Ping He is a Chinese-born, London-based fashion designer and founder and creative director of womenswear label PINGHE. Born in Zhengzhou in Henan Province, Ping displayed artistic flair at an early age, practising traditional Chinese ink wash drawing and demonstrating a strong eye for colour and form. Aged eighteen, Ping studied Fashion Design at Suzhou University, one of the leading art and design universities in China, and was awarded a first class degree. During her studies, Ping won numerous awards, including a Shanghai Fashion Week award for womenswear and a SAGA design award.
Ping later fulfilled her lifelong dream to move to England and enrolled on the Fashion and Textile Design postgraduate course at Nottingham Trent University where she graduated with a distinction. She worked at Alexander McQueen and Camilla Staerk before joining Aftershock London as Head of Design. Ping’s five-year tenure saw the highest sales growth in the company’s history, a roster of A-list clients including Madonna and Uma Thurman and a Best Rising Star award from the British Fashion Council.
In 2012, Ping launched her eponymous ready-to-wear label, PINGHE. In 2013, she was invited to show at Vancouver Fashion Week and later debuted at London Fashion Week with her spring/summer 2014 collection, inspired by architecture and minimalism. The label quickly attracted the attention of Harvey Nichols CEO, Joseph Wan and former chairman of the British Fashion Council, Harold Tillman, who went on to mentor the designer.
In under three years, PINGHE has grown into an international luxury brand, with 15 stockists in 7 countries (UK, USA, Canada, China, UAE, Lebanon, Monaco) including Harvey Nichols, Fenwick and SKP Beijng, and has showrooms in London, New York and Canada. Celebrity followers include Poppy Delevingne, Mary Charteris, Priyanka Chopra, Daisy Lowe and Zilin Zhang.
Ping was one of three designers chosen for prestigious Swarovski sponsorship to represent Asia Pacific in 2016.
