The Designer

Stella McCartney began her own label on graduating from Central Saint Martin’s in 1995. Her signature style of sharp tailoring and sexy femininity was an immediate success. After only two collections she was appointed Creative Director of Chloe in 1997. In 2001 she launched her own fashion house in a joint venture with the Gucci Group showing in Paris. A lifelong vegetarian McCartney refuses to use any leather or fur in her designs. Her collections include women’s ready-to-wear, accessories, eyewear, fragrance and organic skincare. Her partnership with Adidas began in September 2004.

The range of active sportswear has grown considerably since it first hit the shops in the summer of 2005. Now the collection covers running, gym, yoga, tennis, swimming and most recently dance with the distinctive McCartney mix of cool style in feminine shapes.

The new Adidas by Stella McCartney S/S08 collection, showed for the first time in London, and was the grand finale to London Fashion Week.
